Can I mix different birds in a cage, eg budgies and finches?

I got a budgie and he looks lonely so I was going to get a female budgie, but can I buy a finch or cocktail and put it in there? or no

in a cage would not be a good idea but they will mix ok in an aviary

It is really not a good idea for two different kinds of birds to be together in one cage, but if they get along you can let them play outside of there cages together.

I do recommend getting a second budgie though. But make sure you know everything about breeding before you get a female. Two males get along together just as well, unlike some animals.

    Nope not a good idea.

    Hi,
No you can’t really do it in an indoor caged. If the cage is big enough then you would be better off getting another budgie as there will be less problems.

Not a good idea at all. Budgies are quite aggressive for a small bird and will likely kill finches and injure the much more peaceful tiels. Stick with another budgie

yes, u can but it depends if they get along or not otherwise they r gonna peck on each other n what i’ve seen my female parakeets don’t really get along with new birds so it might take a while, but i would by another parakeet insted that way u don’t hav to buy 2 different kind of food

no i wouldn’t suggest it because finches are small independent birds and like to stay in their cage for a long time but budgies need to have time outside of their cage and so finches will get scared of all the movement! hope i helped

This question comes up quite often and there are various thoughts on this subject.

But the safest thing for any new bird keeper is to buy a book and read up on the species they fancy.

But in answer to your question !Never put Budgies with Finches

As budgie will not hesitate to attack any thing smaller than themselves and even bigger.

So the best thing if you want a companion for your bird is get another Budgie.

its not a good idea to put budgie with cockatiels because the budgie will attack and kill the cockertials they mite be small but theyre very aggressive towards other birds another budgie shouldnt be a problem depending on how old urs is and if its been with other budgies before but with plenty of toys and treats and attention they become healthy happy birds
