through the pictures it looks to me that she is holding an egg but could be wrong. it take 10 days for the first egg to be laid then she lays the rest every 2nd day. she is no egg bound signs of this are things like sitting on the bottom of the cage fluffed up and being alot less active. she looks like a very healthy hen so all should be fine. make sure you feed her egg food aswell which is a hard boiled egg grated and can also add other grated veg to it.
hope this helps

When should I take my baby parakeet out?
Question by Kenny H: When should I take my baby parakeet out?
So the egg hatch about 3 weeks ago.And the baby parakeet is starting to grow feathers. It has feathers on its tail and seems to have a lot on its head, but you can still see the pink part (Only on some part).I don’t know if I should take him out of the box yet.Earlier I took him out and then he went back into his nesting box.Should I take him out or leave in the box? The bird is really scared of me for some reason what should I do to bond with it? Thanks if you can help!

You shouldn’t take the baby parakeet out yet.If the body still have pink spots don’t take it out.Only take it out when the bird is fully covered with feathers. Also to bond with it I suggest playing with it once or twice a day for 10-15 minutes.

PLEASE HELP URGENT PARAKEET, Possible egg bound?
Question by JustaGirl: PLEASE HELP URGENT PARAKEET, Possible egg bound?
Thank you for your Help.
I woke this morning to see my parakeet very puffed up, when i looked at her closer i noticed she has a half egg out of her and it is covered in her green stool and a small amount of blood. The egg doesnt seem to be moving, i do have a male parakeet and they have been together all there lifes she is 6 years old.
what can i do for her? I cannot afford to take her to the vet sadly.

Answer by Katie.
your bird could just be old, all bird bleed a little. she should be able to get it out. if not, you might HAVE to take her to the vet.
and if you can, make her a little nest, out of news paper or an old dish rag.

I think my parakeet is egg bound?
Question by Nicole: I think my parakeet is egg bound?
I think my parakeet is egg bound, her tails seems to be bobbing and she has big droppings (poop). sometimes she goes and sits on the bottom of the cage with her feathers puffed and sometimes she comes up and acts normal. She seems to be showing a lot of affection to me but i am not sure that has to do with anything about being egg bound (just saying). I just want to know if she is egg bound. I had her a bout 7years i always thought it was a boy because of the light blue cere so i am not sure its a female either.
she doesn’t seem to be straining or breathing hard.
((Please don’t answer me with take it to an avian vet it doesn’t help i will be taking her or him very very very very soon anyways))
I think this is a male because i have another female and they seem to be mating so i am very confused unless it is possible for a parakeets to be homosexual??!!!
the other parakeet has a pink cere but a man who i think owns the pet shop told me it was female.

Your female sounds like it could be eggbound. I’ve had some eggbound parakeets and those are most of the symptoms that you mentioned. They will also strain to get the egg out and have trouble breathing. This is a medical emergency and you need to get your parakeet to the avian vet immediately. One of my female parakeets had a light blue cere her whole life of eight years. She died from egg binding. A dark blue cere would be a male (in most mutations).
