Can I put my cockatiel and parakeet in the same cage?

Question by : Can I put my cockatiel and parakeet in the same cage?
Is it okay to put them in the same cage? They’ve been in separate cages next to each other for quite some time and they seem to react positively to each other. I was just wondering if they’ll react differently once they’re in the same cage.

Try it out; I’ve seen a lovebird and a dove in the same cage. :)

Just watch them!!

Good luck~

my parakeet flew into the bathtub while the hot water was running.?

Question by morganmorning: my parakeet flew into the bathtub while the hot water was running.?
I would guess the little guy got burned, but its been 30 min. and he has chirpped a little and preened and fluffed himself as normal. He is walking all over me and pooping with his regular frequency (although it is SLIGHTLY more liquidy (clear) than I usually see it) I think he is going to be okay…..is he?

Hi! If your bird is acting completely normal after the incident, than chances are he is completely fine. As for the slightly more runny droppings, that is completely normal. Sometimes when a bird becomes stressed his droppings will appear a little looser than before. This is normal.

Question by Xai Vang: Can I breed 2 zebra finch in a 24in 14h 14l cage with two males parakeet in it with finch nest?

They will probably NOT breed with another species in the same cage. The parakeets will likely bite and injure the finches.

Get the finches their own cage. In a couple weeks add a finch nest. They are sold at feed and pet stores. Give them grass and newspaper to make a nest in premade nest. Be sure they have a cuttle bone and broccoli florets several times a week.

Baby Budgie Behaviour?

Question by NO COMMENT.: Baby Budgie Behaviour?
i have a 6wk old budgie
he is like uhh its difficult to explain but it looks like his burrowing?
into the corner at the bottom of the cage. i assume its some sort of nesting behaviour. i have never had a baby before so is there a reason as to why his doing that?
he seems to be eating seed ok and millet
he spends alot of time on the bottom of the cage
but he has spent time on the perches too.
he climbs up the side of the cage and tries to get to my other birds.

normally, a 6 week old budgie would still be with it’s parents, odds are, it isn’t properly weaned yet.

Most likely, your budgie is trying to get somewhere safe and dark. To remind him of his nest. You can try getting a nest box and setting it on the ground of his cage and put him in there with some soft bedding.

Also, how is he eating? Is he perching at all or does he stay at the bottom of his cage?

I bought him a bag of hagen's original, the kind that looks bland... do you have any food that your budgie rly likes? the price is not an issue as long it's not anything much too expensive. he isn't fond of plain and bland things but he isn't fond of very loud and colorful food either.

thank u all!!

Is this a new bird? How old is it? Are you certain the bird is fully weaned. Sometimes a young bird will revert back to wanting to be hand fed and if this is the case you need to get it to someone who knows how to do this.

If you have had the bird for a while and it has decided not to eat then it needs to be seen by your vet.

Birds are suspicious of new things and it may take a while for it to accept a new food, for this reason you should never run out of the food it was eating and introduce the new food slowly, put it in a treat dish along side the old food. I would also keep spray millet in the cage, all birds love this and it is very nutritious.
