How can I get my budgie to start doing the dog whistle. How long does it take?

Question by Grigor Harisi: How can I get my budgie to start doing the dog whistle. How long does it take?
How long does it take to teach a budgie the dog whistle. I was also wondering how can I tell how old my budgie is? His head feathers are not going all the way down to the cere. The stripes are at his neck and down. His cere is not brown or white. It is purple and a little blue. Is the purple really blue. If you could answer the questions above that would be great. I will give best answer. 10 points.

Budgies are about the least cooperative hookbills in mimicking other sounds. Some are not capable, many are not willing, and only a few actually do it. There are CD’s out there of sounds; playing the sound repeatedly (for hours on end, how irritating!) is probably your best bet.

The best way to get an idea of the age of a budgie is the length of its tail. Young (baby) budgies will have very short tails, maybe 3 or 4 inches. Their tails grow as they age, reaching full length of about 5 or 6 inches at about 2 or 3 years old. After that, it gets extremely difficult to tell.
