Strange Budgie Behavior?
Well my budgie has been a little weird lately.
He hasn’t changed in appereance much cause well he’s a recessive pied and they pretty much look the same for the rest of their life and males keep the pink/purple cere.
In his cage he has a really aggressive female, she’s pretty old(5-7 years old), too old to be bred anymore. But latley he’s been really aggressive to her. He’s constantly:
-Pulling her off the cage bars when their fighting over something
-Scooting her off the prefered perch in their cage
-Fighting over food and toys
Other strange behavior that has been happening lately:
-Sitting in the large cup of seed
-Rubbing his head and tail on almost EVERYTHING
-More biting than usual
I know I’ve had him for more than 6 months now not really sure how old he has, probably 3-5 months old. And both of them got along fine and they would only fight over seed probably like every 2 weeks.
Also my male budgie is starting to moult.
I’m trying to find another larger cage but all are really expensive so we have to be patient.
Wow you have got the wrong idea! He’s not sick! And there is no way I’m letting him get lost in my room. Plus my mom has a habit of leaving the door open.

My budgie flew away yesterday and it started raining at night?
Yesterday my budgie decided to be a smarty-pants, and somehow lifted the plastic lid that is SUPPOSED to not allow the bird to fly away when you replace his water thing, he lifted it and flew away. I saw him inside a big bush but there were bushes and thorns everywhere so i couldnt reach him,
i took his cage and started making sounds with the toys he liked untill it got dark and started raining.
will he be alive and return? D:
his name is Edward, and another budgie called Bella, she keeps sqeaking and screaming and crying, too.
okay, main questions, Why is bella screaming all the time, and will Edward come back?

transition from budgie to lovebird?
I’m considering taking my budgie’s (berry and kiwi [2]) to a pet store and trading them in for a baby love bird. at the moment i have a cage that’s about 35 inches tall and 17 inches wide: it’s bars are spaced 1/2 of an inch. i have four perches that are set out for parakeet’s feet (1/2 thick), two food dishes (average size [came with the cage]), parakeet food (seeds and such), one cuddle bone, and about 4/12 toys (i made about five of these)that hang in the cage at this time.–i rotate the toys about every other week. i also have a parakeet GYM with a ladder, a bell, a swing, and a few perches (8″x8″). okay, my question is, if i would to trade in my parakeets for a one love bird, what changes would i need to make to the cage?
ex:
-bigger perches?
-different toys?
-smaller/bigger/wider/taller cage?
-more toys?
-etc.
anything you can think of that i might need to know so my lovebird can live comfortably and happy. GO!

How do I socialize my budgie?
I’ve had my budgie for a few years now, we used to have four but three of them died. I change his cage around regularly (take toys out, put new toys in, move them around in his cage) about every 3-4 weeks, and when I do I put in one of those long treats that you attach to the side of the cage, and I mix in some sort of dried fruit/vegetable mix with his regular food. I talk to him the whole time I’m doing this.
I used to take him out of his cage sometimes, and let him fly around the room while I watched TV, played computer, read, etc. but he never did anything. He would always just sit in a corner until we put him away (he would come out of the cage. We would leave the doors open, and the other budgies would explore a bit. One would fly over and sit with us, and the other two would sit on top of the blinds on the front or back window, and fly across the room every once and a while, but Sparkle would never come out). So anyway, we would have to make him come out, and then he would spend the whole time behind a desk or a picture frame or something, and he would always try to bite us when it was time to put him away (he bit the girl at the store when she got him out for us).
So anyway, I move his toys around, I give him treats, I talk to him when I’m doing it. I talk to him whenever I change his food and water, and sometimes I’ll just go over and talk to him or sing to him, but he still gets really scared whenever I (or anyone else) comes near his cage, and he tries to get as far away from me as possible when I’m rearranging his cage. He still bites anyone who’s able to get that close, and he will NOT come out of his cage of his own free will. You’d probably need to stick a cat and a chain saw in there to get him to come out, so I’m not entirely sure what to do.
So how can I get my budgie to be friendlier and to get used to people? I want him to be able to come out of his cage and sit with me.
