what is a small pacifier, and what is a cuttle bone, and is a mineral treat required and if a get a cage from argos it is ok? you see hopefully soon i am going to get a baby budgie and i am picking out a cage i am going to get a cage that is 45.1 in height, 26.7 in width, and 33.7cm in d (sorry i don’t know what the D stands for)

any way it has a shaggy kabob, a small pacifier, two feeding cups, calcium perch and sand perch, acrylic spinners, five step ladder, mineral treat, cuttle bone, and copper bell.
my question is – is the toys enough and is it big enough for one budgie and can you please exclpain what all the stuff in the cage above mean? thank you so much!!!

My budgie is injured – what to do?

I just recently got a budgie and he’s a little under 2 weeks old. We had him in the same cage as another budgie and they’ve been pretty friendly the last few days we’ve had them.

Just this morning I heard them being noisy and later they were suspiciously quiet. I checked up on them and they were both on the floor of their bird cage. One was dead (I think) and the other was barely alive.

The living one is the one I’m worried about – his feet aren’t curled or anything, they’re limp and his neck seems somewhere between broken and twisted because he cranes his neck to look at us and i doesn’t move as a bird’s neck should move (as though the neck isn’t strong enough to support the head).

He tried to make a sound but all that came out was a watery clicking noise. I went to keep him warm, fresh food (bird seed, some apple sauce from what I’ve looked up) and water by his side, but he isn’t voluntarily eating/drinking.

I’ve put some water on his beak and I think he was drinking it.

From there I’m stuck! What do I do? Did my birds fight? Whyy?!

What do you line the bottom of a bird cage with?

We are getting a pair of male Budgie’s tomorrow. I’m preparing their cage tonight. What do I line the bottom of the cage with? Do I use newspaper? I have some of that grits and gravel stuff. Do I just use that, or do I need to put something under that?
Its not gravel paper, its Gravel and grits, in a box. I have a Parkaeet Handbook, that says this is vital for their digestion…so I’m lost…

my budgies won’t go in their bird bath?

i have a large bird bath in my cage, but the budgies wont go in it
i used to spray them with tepid water in an atomiser, shortly afterwards one of the birds starting shivering and got sick and eventually died, from then on i’ve been to wary to do this again,
is it necessary for birds to bath ?
