My female budgie is sitting on eggs and her mate has just died. Should I get a replacement straight away?

We have just come home to find our male budgie has died (we have a realy big cage and he can’t fly and has fallen down and landed on his head!!) The female just laid an egg 2 days ago and is sitting on her nest. She came out to look for him and seemed to be quite distressed because he’s not there anymore. Will she be okay? Should I get a replacement male to help feed her whilst she’s nesting – or should I leave it for a while before I get a replacement?
Thanks for all your answers guys. It’s now Sunday morning and I was woken about 6.30am by Shaney (female budg) tweeting away looking for Ross, her mate. She is still shouting for him but has finally gone back into the nesting box to sit on the egg. Am I right in saying that an hour of non-sitting is too long for an egg to survive?
Anyway, she’s obviously quite distressed. I’ll try and keep her distracted today with lots of different food treats and mirrors.
Cheers

Budgie sex, anyone? Wanted: Eggs?

My mom has 4 budgies for almost half a year now and she’s complaining about not having eggs. I read that there are differences at the beaks but I’m confused considering that two are old and two are young (I think). Here is a group pic with the birds numbered. Will someone please help me out with this? I hope they’re not all gay.

My budgies mate, but have no eggs?

I have 2 female and 1 male budgies. The male has mated with both birds. I have a nesting box and a kleenex box (read about someone using one for a nest online). One female goes into the nesting box and the other likes the kleenex box. But, neither one has eggs. Is there something wrong? Or are they like humans, “mating” without conception?
I purchased my male bird about a month ago. I know he mated with another female in the past, and they produced fertilized eggs. My females are both about 2-3 years old, so I know they are all old enough. They started mating about 3 weeks ago.

how do you tell if a parakeet budgie is ill or will lay eggs!!!!!!!!!$$??????

TEll me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh yeah please

is the male parakeet(budgie) supposed to go in the breeding box as well the female together?

i bought my budgies on the 3rd september 2009 i made a nest box out of card board it looks perfect and have stuck a perch right next to it and have taken of their favorite perch so she goes in the nest box at first she didn’t go but now she stays all the time that is normal because the breeder i took it of says she is on eggs and will lay them by the end of the month. the problem is that both the male and the female stay in there too and when i go to them they never get out so i have to take them out through the flap ( am i supposed to do that) so is there any problem with any budgie or anything and how does a budgie look like when she is about to give eggs and how can i help it.
thank you and please help
