My parakeet seems to be panting a lot…?

I have a lovely female parakeet perhaps a year old. Recently she went through a bit of a traumatizing time when her other female companion accidentally flew away from the cage. That was a month and a half ago and since, we got her a new male companion and they seem to be getting a long well.

However, I’ve noticed lately she seems to be getting slightly chubby. This doesn’t seem to be affecting her flying so I don’t feel too worried about it, but I’ve noticed when she starts flying around the house (i.e – when we try and get her in the cage and she doesn’t want to go in) she stars panting. And not just slightly, I mean like really panting heavily like she can’t breathe. Obviously this is the case if she flies a lot in one go, but I’ve never seen her do this and it’s a bit worrying. It then takes her about 10 to 15 minutes to calm down, I give her water and she’s normal again.

Is this normal behavior for a budgie? I’m a bit worried about her…please advise…! Thank you.

I have a budgie that is 6 Months old that I can’t idecide on its sex. Cere changes colour constantly. Help!

The Cere is blue in the morning and and pink at night. Sometimes it does a lot of head-bobbing and sometimes it just squwarks. Very active and gets into all sorts of mischief. It’s white with turquoise under the wings with a touch of black and white, usual budgie markings on each side of the head but not on the crown. Can anyone help with this one?

a few breeding budgie questions?

i don’t like wasting points :D

1-my female bobs her head to male why does she do it.

2-are these signs of courting-

*male singing to her a lot.
*female preening him and regurgitating to him.
*female on top of nesting box
*male moving back and forth the perch (the female is on it too)

3-how can i encourage the female to go inside the nest box not on top of it.

4-is oats a good nesting material?

Why is my budgie sleeping a lot more?

I have a female budgie who’s about 5 years old, nearly 6, and recently i got her a new cage. But ever since she’s been inside it, she’s slept. She doesnt play with her fav toy as much, only once in a while (used to be obsessed with it, you know how string is with birds!). and when i take her out, she flies around a bit but then finds a spot and goes to sleep! Is there something wrong? It is a bit cool in my house but, i’ve brought her to a warm room and she acted the same.

Budgie layed an egg. I don’t know if it’s fertilized. What can I do to keep it alive, if it is?

I don’t have a nest box, so, I don’t know where she could sit on it. It’s in a sort of box now, but it isn’t an actual nest box.

I had a male budgie, but he died. The female and male used to be together a lot. I never saw them mate, though, and when the male died I thought that she couldn’t be pregnant.

Well she ate a cuttlefish bone in like, two days, and kept eating veggies and fruits, even though she used to dislike them but I didn’t think anything of it. Then, she laid an egg, maybe 20 mins ago, and now shes just sitting. I don’t have a nest box, and she laid it on top of the cockatiel’s cage. I wondered why she was so moody.

So what can I do to keep it alive, if it is fertilized? She’s not sitting on it, and I heard you can’t tell if it’s fertile until its about a week old.
