Just got my first quaker?

And although I’ve looked through 101 websites about quakers it doesn’t compare to hearing it first hand from owners.

So to those who own quakers, what is it about your bird that makes it special. What’s it’s favourite treat / toy / activity.

What tips can you give me from personal experience that I’m not going to find on a website?

Just some info on my little girl….she is blue and hand raised but was let go a bit before being sold. While she is calm when I hold her (she loves to snuggle in to my shirt and have pats) but still a bit nervous when I first reach out to her.

However I thought it was a good sign when I left the room for a minute to get something and she “screamed” continuously and then hopped off her play gym to follow me.
Would that indicate that she wants to be around me?

I’ve breed and raised tiels and budgies for years but this is my first bird that is not a tiel or budgie, so any quaker tips would be great!

My parakeet is limping to one side and shaking?

Please don’t answer take the bird to the vet. I know that, but its 10pm I can’t do that right now.

He didn’t fall or get hurt that I know of. He was on his play gym on the floor like he always plays on in the morning and the evening. He just keeps getting worse. His foot doesn’t look abnormal at all like it is injuried or cut.

He only seems to do it on his rug, but he is on that every day. I don’t get it.

Any suggestions on what is wrong?
He can still perch. It seems to be coming and going. Almost like seizures. He just isn’t like himself.

Will an Amazon parrot intentionally hurt or kill a smaller bird?

I have a female Amazon and a male parakeet (in separate cages, of course). The keet really seems to like the amazon and always wants to be around her when he’s out of his cage. He’ll fly onto the amazon’s cage, or sit next to her if they’re both on the bird play gym at the same time. The Amazon, though, will open her beak and lean toward the keet, which is when I step in to separate the two. It seems the keet looks at the bigger Amazon like a buddy, but the amazon views the keet as a potential snack. The Amazon doesn’t growl at the smaller bird and for the most part will move away from the little guy when he walks over to her on the gym. He doesn’t seem to understand she’s a lot bigger and her beak can do major damage. What are the chances the Amazon will finally accept the keet as a little friend?

Buzzo and Charlie play on the play gym

Buzzo has finally started behaving a little nicer towards Charlie, and doesn’t bully him (her) as much as before. I think Charlie has found out that he’s (she’s) much bigger than a ‘common little budgie’ and now has nothing to be scared of hahahahaha
